Benchmarking

Benchmarking is a way to track building performance over time. It is often done through ENERGY STAR, which gives buildings a score on a scale of 1-100 by comparing similar buildings according to primary use

Why It Matters

Benchmarking is a great place to start tracking your buildings to get a better understanding of how they operate and how they compare to similar buildings. Benchmarking helps you identify best and worst performers so you can decide where to start efficiency projects first. Many cities require annual benchmarking, and we recommend quarterly benchmarking with ENERGY STAR.
