BMS Integration is the process of combining data from utility meters with building control systems. This can be done by sending utility meter data to the BMS, or by collecting utility data via the BMS which is generally time consuming and expensive.

Why It Matters

BMS integration is possible, but it can be expensive and take several months. It can also considerably slow the BMS down. The truth is that building management systems and real-time data collection serve two different functions. A BMS operates the controls of the building, while meters collect information about the building’s behavior. We suggest that you meter first and keep the two systems separated so you can use the information from the meter data to take action on your building’s controls.
