Building Management System (BMS)

The Building Management System (BMS) operates the controls of a building. The system is meant to operate all of the electrical and mechanical equipment from lighting to HVAC to security systems. The BMS is sometimes able to alert you if there is a problem in the building.

Why It Matters

The purpose of the BMS is to control the building, not to provide information about the building. If you don’t have a BMS in your building, the first logical step is to install meters to gain transparency into your building. This will give you the information you need to make changes immediately. It will also help justify capital investments such as installing a BMS.
