Current transformers (CTs) are electrical devices that produce an alternating current. The electrical sensor inside the device measures electricity over wires, allowing CTs to be connected to web-enabled devices to communicate the amount of energy being consumed at that time.

Why It Matters

CTs allow power meters to collect information on electricity consumption.
