Occupancy Rate

The occupancy rate of a building refers to the percentage of the building that is occupied by tenants at a given time.

Why it Matters

Property managers want to maximize their occupancy rate, and tenant satisfaction and tenant engagement are key to keeping occupancy rate high. Additionally, green buildings with LEED Certifications and high Energy Star Scores tend to have higher occupancy rates, as tenants are drawn to buildings with more natural lighting and outside air flow.
